In a vote of confidence in the Japanese market, two international firms have bolstered Tokyo-based energy practices with new partner hires. K&L Gates has recruited Sergey Milanov, formerly a partner with Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, while Simmons & Simmons is bringing aboard Simon Barrett, most recently a senior associate at Hogan Lovells.
With the hire of Milanov, K&L Gates, which has five lawyers in Tokyo, is seeking to capitalize on growing outbound investment in Russia’s oil and gas market by Japanese clients.
