SAN FRANCISCO — The Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals today turned down a renewed request that it lift its stay and allow same-sex weddings to resume in California.

The plaintiffs in Perry v. Schwarzenegger asked the court to reconsider the stay on Judge Vaughn Walker’s ruling striking down Prop 8 last month, hours after the Obama administration announced its view that the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional.
