The Yoss law firm is closing its West Palm Beach office today and cutting its Delray Beach office to an affiliate relationship as part of its restructuring and consolidation, managing partner George Yoss said.

The moves come days after the firm lost the head of its appellate practice.

The troubled Coral Gables-based firm is taking steps to reorganize following layoffs, missed draws to partners and lawsuits by vendors over unpaid bills.

The West Palm Beach office was a two-lawyer office devoted almost entirely to corporate collections.

The three-attorney Delray Beach office headed by Wayne Gill now has an of counsel relationship and will continue to be affiliated with the firm. The office focused on collections.

Gill, who was placed on the firm’s executive committee as a minority shareholder after co-founder Henry “Hank” Adorno resigned after losing his law license last year, will be replaced, Yoss said.

He said he does not anticipate any further closings, although more layoffs could be coming firmwide.

“The Boca Raton office will remain open,” Yoss said in a statement. “We do not anticipate any additional closings, although the professional head count may decrease in some of the remaining offices as we finalize the implementation of (our) management plan.”

Jack Reiter, the firm’s longtime head of the appellate group, left the firm after 11 years Friday and starts today at Carlton Fields.

“I’ve been presented with a terrific opportunity to become part of a strong statewide firm and an extremely well-respected practice group,” Reiter said.
