Jones Day is bound for Saudi Arabia in a big way, adding new offices in Jeddah, Khobar and Riyadh in 2011. The Am Law Daily spoke with firm leaders about their plans to create a presence in the country by forming an association with Saudi shop Al Sulaim & Al Awaji, which includes several former Jones Day lawyers.
Mary Ellen Powers, partner-in-charge of Jones Day’s Europe and Middle East practice in Washington, D.C., says that the firm had a small office in Saudi Arabia two decades ago and recently made the decision to reopen its operations there by teaming with Al Sulaim & Al Awaji, with whom Jones Day has collaborated for years.
