Trenton’s chief municipal judge, Renee Lamarre Sumners, resigned Monday in the wake of public disclosure that she had bounced checks to judicial authorities, was sued by creditors and was the subject of an arrest warrant.

Earlier in the day, Sumners met with Mercer County Assignment Judge Linda Feinberg, who said she “had reasons to believe there were still unresolved issues” and suggested that Sumners step down, says judiciary spokesman Winnie Comfort.
