The New Jersey Supreme Court has agreed to look at how far personal injury lawyers can go, in their closing statements, to convey to jurors the gravity of their clients’ injuries.

At issue in Risko v. Thompson Muller Automotive Group t/a Hammonton Chrysler Jeep Dodge, A-27-10, is whether a lawyer stepped over the line in equating a decedent’s suffering with torture and in telling the jury that they would be “ignoring the law” if they had an issue with “a million dollar case.”
