In what is certainly a first-of-its-kind legal pleading (at least by a fan of the Texas Rangers), a Dallas lawyer says he filed a continuance motion Monday in municipal court. Why? He wants to attend his favorite team’s first-ever World Series appearance today.
Darrell W. Cook says he has tickets to Game 1 of the World Series between the Rangers and the San Francisco Giants, which falls on the same day as a pretrial hearing in his client’s code enforcement case. So a city prosecutor asked that Cook put his reasons for the continuance in writing and file it with the municipal court, which he did. Cook notes in an e-mail that he filed the motion by fax.
