A high-ranking Nixon Peabody partner has announced plans to leave the firm to take a job as general counsel of Catholic Health Services of Long Island. David A. DeCerbo, a health care partner in the firm’s Jericho, N.Y., office, will at the end of the month leave Nixon Peabody to join the 15,000-employee regional health care delivery system, a firm spokeswoman confirmed. DeCerbo, 61, earlier this year joined Nixon Peabody’s governing policy committee.

Allison McClain, the spokeswoman, in a statement credited DeCerbo with helping expand Nixon Peabody’s capabilities in health care services, an area in which the firm anticipates “tremendous growth.” Citing demand from clients for advice following the enactment of federal health reform legislation, the firm in July added Peter Egan from Garfunkel Wild.
