A federal judge has sanctioned Milberg LLP and its co-counsel over the accuracy of information cited to two confidential witnesses quoted in a complaint against Sony Corp.
Southern District of New York Judge Robert P. Patterson Jr. reprimanded Milberg, Lax LLP and Lange & Koncious for not including in the complaint the “necessary context” to a statement attributed to an ex-Sony employee. The judge also reprimanded the firms for refusing to strike claims included in the pleadings that were unsupported by a confidential witness until after a safe harbor period had lapsed.
