Squire Sanders & Dempsey will close its Tallahassee office Oct. 1, leaving it with three offices in Florida.

Albert del Castillo, the firm’s Florida regional director, said the decision to close the office in the state capital largely hinged on the loss of powerhouse lobbyist Jim Krog, who died suddenly in 2008. Krog, a prominent political player in the state capital, managed both of Democrat Lawton Chiles’ campaigns for governor and has a room named for him in the fabled Tallahassee hangout, the members-only Governors Club a block from the Capitol.
