Cooley on Thursday added a high-yield debt partner in New York from Proskauer Rose.

Ian B. Blumenstein will join Cooley as a partner as the law firm looks to expand its capital markets practice on the East Coast. Blumenstein said Cooley, which is typically known for its representation of emerging companies, is also looking to expand its relationships with investment banks. Jefferies & Co. has been a chief client of Blumenstein’s, and over his career he has also represented Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and UBS.
