The 28-year-old woman sat against a wall of cement blocks, leaning toward a video screen and awaited her fate for a prostitution charge.
A Municipal Court judge sentenced the woman to two years of reporting probation, job training, and mandatory court costs and fines. The judge was presiding in a fourth-floor Criminal Justice Center courtroom in Center City, while the defendant was sitting 10 miles away in the Philadelphia Prison System’s complex in Northeast Philadelphia.
