After 14 years at the helm of Dechert, where he dramatically drove up profits by driving out less profitable practices and focusing on higher-end work, Barton J. Winokur will step down as the firm’s chairman and chief executive officer next year, the firm confirmed.
And there will be two people to fill his shoes. For the first time in the firm’s history, leadership will be — at least in part — outside of Philadelphia.
