Gucci America's fight to protect attorney-client privilege in a trademark infringement suit against Guess Inc. is now "sacred." Guess has argued that Gucci should be denied privilege in the case because its former in-house counsel was not properly licensed. But Gucci has vehemently disagreed. In the latest court papers filed Tuesday, Gucci said it should not "be deprived of the most sacred right a litigant enjoys under U.S. law -- the right to protect against the disclosure of confidential communications with its attorney."
