Boies, Schiller & Flexner is the latest firm to jump into the Alien Tort Statute litigation fray against Chiquita Brands International, filing suit against the Cincinnati-based banana producer and distributor.
Alison Frankel of The Am Law Litigation Daily reports that Boies filed the complaint against Chiquita on behalf of more than 200 alleged victims of paramilitary violence in Colombia, where Chiquita has been accused of paying off militant groups deemed to be terrorists here in the U.S. in order to protect its former employees and business operations in the country.
