San Francisco litigation firm McGrane Greenfield may be put in charge of one of the most important pieces of litigation in the Heller Ehrman bankruptcy.

The unsecured creditors’ committee has asked bankruptcy Judge Dennis Montali to approve the hire of McGrane Greenfield for a pending case against Bank of America and Citibank. Under the proposed contract, the 11-lawyer firm would be paid $1 million up front, plus a contingency fee worth 5 percent of the net benefit to the estate if they win, Monday court filings show.
