High school students' threats of violence against an aspiring teenage actor/singer on the boy's Web site don't constitute protected free speech, a divided California appeal court ruled Monday. Nor do the statements -- called "jokes" by the offending writers -- implicate a public issue that could survive a motion to strike the underlying suit. "The threat in this case was not merely a few words shouted during a brawl," wrote Justice Robert Mallano, of Los Angeles' 2nd District Court of Appeal.
