Actor Kyle MacLachlan plays Houston immigration lawyer Charles Foster in a feature film about the life of former Houston Ballet dancer Li Cunxin. The movie, "Mao's Last Dancer," is a 2009 Australian film based on Li's autobiography by the same name. It will be released in U.S. theaters later this year. Foster, co-chairman of FosterQuan, a 56-lawyer immigration firm, says he helped Li defect in 1981 in a dramatic standoff that took place at the People's Republic of Chinese Consulate in Houston.
