Herbert Smith, Linklaters and India’s AZB & Partners are advising on a deal that could see Bharti Airtel, the world’s third-largest mobile phone operator, acquire the African assets of Kuwait-based Mobile Telecommunications Company, according to a report in Legally India.

MTC, also known as the Zain Group, is one of the world’s largest wireless service providers with a dominant presence across Africa and the Middle East. Earlier this week the company agreed to sell its African unit to New Delhi-based Bharti in a deal estimated to be worth $10.7 billion.
