Kanawha County, W. Va.'s chief prosecutor says he suspended an assistant who agreed to dismiss a petit larceny charge in exchange for the alleged victim being allowed to slap the defendant. Prosecutor Mark Plants says he suspended Stewart Altmeyer without pay for one month after learning about the Feb. 3 incident. Plants says the alleged victim, Deborah McGraw, told Altmeyer she would agree to drop charges against Dallas Jarrett if she could slap him once.
