Veteran defense attorney Allan Ackerman filed court papers Thursday asking permission to withdraw from Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's team, citing "philosophical differences" among the lawyers. He didn't spell out the differences but said that, as a result, he is "no longer able to stridently participate in the defense of the accused." Prominent attorney Edward M. Genson was originally tapped to head the defense team but withdrew after the former governor started making the rounds of TV talk shows.
