Stevens & Lee has never quite followed the traditional model of its Am Law 200 counterparts. That trend continues with the addition of a firm outsider to serve as vice chairman of both the law firm and its affiliated investment bank. Joseph W. Marshall comes to the position from executive roles in the health care industry. He previously had his own health law firm. One consultant said if Marshall has responsibility for the firm's overall strategy, his addition could be significant for other firms in the future.
