Foley & Lardner hired the co-chairman of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton's IP practice on Monday. Amar Thakur, who worked out of Sheppard Mullin's San Diego office, said he was attracted to Foley's larger IP practice. Also, he said Foley had a larger appetite for a specialty he's developed in working with private equity groups who acquire or monetize IP portfolios of established corporations. Thakur said he anticipates being able to generate $5 million to $10 million per year at Foley.
