Larry Lavender has been out of work since January when he was laid off from the New Jersey office of an international law firm.

A tax lawyer with seven years of experience, he’s gotten a few bites and scored a few interviews, but so far no job offers. He’s still looking for a position with a firm, but Lavender has also been reading up on opening his own firm.
