A Michigan attorney has hit the University of Iowa College of Law with a discrimination lawsuit charging that the school passed over a 55-year-old candidate for a faculty job in favor of offering the job to two applicants who were under 40 and less qualified. The lawsuit alleges that the school has not hired any professors under age 40 in 10 years. It also claims that the screening committee's policy, although age-neutral on its face, nevertheless has the effect of discriminating against older applicants.
