Robert Laplaca is like a lot of attorneys, always connected by a pager to the office. But his pager isn't connected to his law firm, Levett Rockwood, but to the Weston, Conn., fire dispatcher who alerts him to emergencies. That's when Laplaca jumps into action as a volunteer firefighter. By practicing law and volunteering for the fire department, Laplaca said he's able to keep a good balance between mental and physical exercise. He's even received a couple of client referrals from his department members.
