McCarter & English poached a 12-member life sciences team from Boston intellectual property boutique Lahive & Cockfield, including eight attorneys and four patent agents.

Four former Lahive partners, who are now partners at the Newark, N.J.-based McCarter & English, lead the group, including Cristin Howley Cowles, Elizabeth Hanley, Danielle Herritt and Maria Laccotripe Zacharakis. The group will expand McCarter’s life sciences expertise in New England, said McCarter’s intellectual property/information technology practice chairman, William J. Heller, in a statement.
