The families of two al-Qaida beheading victims have won more than $400 million in their federal suit against the Syrian government and Syrian officials. Newly amended federal law allowed the families of Americans Jack L. Hensley and Olin Eugene Armstrong, whose murders al-Qaida videotaped for Internet distribution, to sue the Syrian government directly. The families' attorneys believe that they'll collect at least some of the judgment. "If Syria wants to normalize relations," one noted, "they'll pay."
