DLA Piper will open an office in Bucharest, Romania, next month under the leadership of a new partner, Marian Dinu, a recruit from Linklaters. The office will be the law firm’s ninth in the Central and Eastern European region, building on outposts in Budapest, Hungary; Prague, Czech Republic; and Warsaw, Poland, DLA said in a press release. Dinu, who was most recently head of mergers and acquisitions for the Bucharest office of Linklaters, will initially focus the work of the new DLA office on corporate, real estate and finance services, the firm said. Dinu will have a team of 10 lawyers in the office to start, but the size is expected to “grow considerably over the next two years,” the firm said. DLA is recruiting some of the additional new lawyers from Linklaters and is in discussions with a number of other local attorneys, said Jason Costa, a spokesman for the firm. Dinu began his legal career at the Romanian firm Sulica & Partners and left to study at Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago, where he earned a Masters of Law degree. He has also worked at Linklaters in London and as general counsel for the Romanian oil and gas company Petrom during the course of his 12-year career.
