Pittsburgh-based Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti has named a CPA as its first chief administrative officer. And according to consultant Joel A. Rose, hiring a nonlawyer to manage a firm is nothing new for midsize and small firms. He says letting lawyers practice law while management professionals handle day-to-day firm administration makes financial sense because the typical administrator's salary is easily offset by the amount of revenue generated by an extra partner who is free to bill.

Pittsburgh-based Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti has named Dennis Mehigan as its first chief administrative officer.
Mehigan will be based primarily in the firm’s Philadelphia office but will be responsible for all seven of the firm’s offices, including those in West Virginia and Ohio.
