New York’s highest court on Wednesday upheld the dismissal of claims brought by a woman who had sued her Rockland County, N.Y., rabbi for abusing his position by allegedly persuading her to have sex with him to help her find a husband.

The Court of Appeals, in a unanimous ruling written by Judge Victoria A. Graffeo, ruled that Adina Marmelstein had failed to meet a rigorous pleading standard required to pursue damage claims against the rabbi, Mordecai Tendler, with whom she claimed to have had a 3 1/2-year consensual affair.
