Washington, D.C., Bar members could see a dues hike of nearly 50 percent under a proposal by the Board of Governors of the District of Columbia Bar.

The board filed a recommendation with the court on June 5 to raise the ceiling from $195 to $285. The court has 60 days from the date of the application to approve or deny the increase.
