After several years of steadily increasing recruitment, south Florida large law firms hired fewer summer associates this year. Meanwhile, Marcy Cox, assistant dean for career planning at the University of Miami School of Law, has seen an increase in the number of medium and small firms recruiting students as well as more job postings from firms that have experienced upticks in business because of the economy, such as firms with an emphasis on bankruptcy and foreclosure work.
