Baker & Daniels, a firm founded in Indianapolis, is opening an office in Chicago as part of a plan to have more than 50 attorneys in the larger Midwest city, the firm said.

The new office will initially have seven attorneys and be led by corporate attorney Richard E. Michaels and business litigator David M. Allen, both of whom joined the law firm from Schuyler Roche, the firm said in a press release. Michaels was president of the Illinois-based Schuyler Roche from 1994 to 2007 and chairman this year, Baker & Daniels said.
