Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll has hired a new director of diversity six months after the first person to hold the position left the firm to start a consulting business. Virginia Essandoh of Altman Weil was scheduled to start in her new role in Ballard Spahr's Philadelphia office on Monday. Ward Bower, a colleague of Essandoh, says it didn't surprise him that she would be tapped for the director of diversity job because it's an "emerging position" in many law firms, and she is more than qualified.
