Nearly three-quarters of Am Law 100 firms posted increases in Compensation–All Partners in 2011. The rest were flat or posted declines. Overall, CAP—the average pay for a firm’s entire partnership, both equity and nonequity—was up 1.9 percent last year. Because CAP takes both equity and nonequity types of partners into account, it is the most complete assessment of partner pay at Am Law 100 firms.

Four firms had CAP growth rates over 20 percent, with Troutman Sanders leading the way with a 27.8 percent increase. The other big gainer was Arnold & Porter with an increase of 25.4 percent. Figures are rounded to the nearest $5,000. For more details, including our criteria for classifying partners as having equity status, see the methodology.

Year-over-year growth rates are not calculated for firms that merged in a merger of equals or joined to form a verein.
