What You Need to Know
- Earning a high base salary and maintaining work-life balance were the most important factors for a group of more than 3,300 associates surveyed by the NALP Foundation last fall.
- Odds of making partner and hybrid work policies were the next-highest issues for associates.
- Associates who worked solely in-office reported the highest levels of engagement, but associates who were fully remote were the most satisfied overall.
Money remains the primary motivation for law firm associates, followed closely by work-life balance, career opportunities and office attendance policies.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.
