The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court held Friday that setting reasonable time limits was not an abuse of discretion following oral arguments over a trial judge’s imposition of an allegedly arbitrary time limit on a wrongful-death trial.

The high court held that the trial judge did not abuse his discretion in setting time limits, noting that he reviewed both parties’ motions regarding the imposition of limits, received each parties’ joint pretrial memorandum, and heard arguments on multiple occasions.
