Cravath has been approaching counsel-level attorneys about joining its non-equity tier since at least last summer, according to one Am Law 50 firm leader.

Cravath, Swaine & Moore has created a non-equity partnership tier, sources confirmed, in a move that comes years after competitors made the same maneuver to create more flexibility for partnership pay. And sources say more law firms are expected to modify their partnership structures and compensation systems in order to recruit and retain star talent.
