A coalition of 20 neighboring and nearby state attorney generals have filed an amicus brief in Matsumoto v. Labrador, a federal case filed in Idaho, urging the court to block the state’s so-called “abortion travel ban.”
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes announced Tuesday that she has joined the coalition of attorneys general in the brief filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho on behalf of three plaintiffs, the Northwest Abortion Access Fund (NWAAF), the Indigenous Idaho Alliance (IIA), and one individual plaintiff, Lourdes Matsumoto. The complaint claims that Idaho has some of the most “oppressive criminal abortion statutes in the United States,” and brings claims under the First Amendment, the 14th Amendment due process clause, and the right to travel within and between states.
