A trademark attorney and her Las Vegas-area law firm have agreed to settle a defamation lawsuit with Amazon.com after the e-commerce company offered an apology and agreed to retract emails that were erroneously sent to clients about the lawyer’s purported “abusive/risky conduct in the past.”

Nazly Aileen Bayramoglu, who manages Bayramoglu Law Offices’ trademark prosecution team and has a spotless disciplinary record, filed a lawsuit May 31 alleging that her clients received rejections from their Amazon Brand Registry applications because “‘the trademark [TM] registration was filed by an attorney who has previously been associated with a TM that was sanctioned/made invalid by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for violating USPTO’s Terms and Conditions,’” according to the complaint.
