The federal judge assigned to the Manhattan District Attorney’s criminal case against former President Donald Trump performed legal work for a Trump company when he was a private attorney in the mid-1990s, according to a letter the judge filed on the docket Thursday.

Senior U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein of the Southern District of New York was a partner at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan when he provided legal services for Trump Equitable Fifth Avenue Co. in a dispute related to percentage rentals, the letter states.
