U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan of the Southern District of New York on Thursday ruled that former President Donald Trump’s request that he instruct the jury in an upcoming civil case that Trump’s presence in court would cause significant logistical burdens involving traffic and security is “premature.”

Kaplan noted that Trump has been aware since February that the trial, which involves the author E. Jean Carroll’s defamation and Adult Survivor Act claims against the former president, is scheduled to start on Tuesday and last approximately one week.
