For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic’s onset, the Michigan State Bar is conducting its “Economics of Law Survey,” which assesses the economic state of Michigan’s legal profession and used by area courts to determine attorney fees in cases.

The survey is conducted every three years, according to a state bar website posting announcing and linking the 2023 Economics of Law Survey. In addition to its use by courts for determining fees, the survey is used to help identify economic disparities across Michigan’s legal profession, according to the posting.
