The Disruption: Generative AI Tools Will Upend the Delivery of Legal Services
When artificial intelligence research and deployment company OpenAI released ChatGPT—a "chatbot" that responds to users' prompts with complex, human-like accuracy—for public use in December 2022, they unleashed a new era of technology frenzy that no one saw coming. The software is powered by a new AI model colloquially known as GPT-3.5.
AI is nothing new—in fact, it has gained a secure foothold across nearly all areas of legal technology over the course of the past decade. Fears of robot overlords or an impending Skynet takeover had long been relegated to the dustbin of cliches, at least in the tech world.
