The old trope that law firms need to be trusted advisers has never been more true, but what they should be advising on is shifting.
When we talk to general counsel, the issues they are increasingly dealing with have to do with board-level business issues around things like geopolitical risk, reputational risk, crisis management and digital transformation. They range from needing immediate responses within hours to requiring longer-term horizon scanning that help prepare for future risk and capitalize on opportunities market shifts may present.
