The Illinois Supreme Court agreed to the recommended three-year suspension for a veteran Chicago attorney who made numerous insults and threats to opposing counsel, including referring to another lawyer as a “piece of poop” and offering to “flay [him] on a public pillory,” according to disciplinary summaries for the September 2022 term.

In January, the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (ARDC) recommended a three-year suspension for lawyer Felipe Nery Gomez for sending harassing and threatening emails to opposing counsels from Barnes & Thornburg and Fox Rothschild during the pendency of litigation against Charles Schwab Corp., and CubeSmart, a storage facility.
