Judge Mark D. Thompson of Colorado’s 5th Judicial District Court has stipulated to a public censure and a 30-day suspension without pay in his agreement with the Colorado Commission on Judicial Discipline.
An Aug. 29 per curiam opinion issued by the Colorado Supreme Court adopted the commission’s recommendation as per the stipulation. Thompson was involved in a verbal confrontation with his adult stepson on July 25, 2021, in front of his home. The confrontation moved inside the home, where Thompson allegedly pointed an AR-15 rifle at the stepson’s chest, according to the order issued by the Supreme Court.
