The University of Virginia School of Law launched a new program this summer aimed at leveling the playing field for first-generation or low-income college students who are interested in the legal profession.

The Roadmap Scholars Initiative—for students interested in the legal profession but who lack the role models, mentors or financial means to prepare for and successfully apply to the most selective schools—brought an inaugural cohort of 12 rising juniors to UVA for a four-week program of intellectual study, fellowship and mentorship.
