Retired Judge John Roemer of the Juneau County Circuit Court in Wisconsin was found dead in his home, in an incident the Wisconsin Department of Justice called “a targeted act.”

According to a Wisconsin DOJ press release, around 6:30 a.m. on  June 3, the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office received a call notifying the police of shots fired at a residence located in the township of New Lisbon. The caller had left the home and called from a neighboring property.
